Welcome to the Front Porches of Alabama!
‘Friends are like the pillars on your Front Porch…Sometimes they hold you up, Sometimes they lean on you; Sometimes, it’s just enough to know they’re standing by for you…’
Yes, welcome to the Porches of Alabama… ‘How do you do’, ‘Y’all come up and set a while’ or ‘Tell me all about it, we’ll figure out what to do’…
We’ll sip a glass of sweet iced tea, sit and watch the sunset, blink with the lightin’ bugs and hear the crickets sing. Softly sing a song or two, a stolen kiss, a sweet embrace, a gentle breeze to chase the blues away…
‘We’re glad you came’- Are you sure y’all can’t stay awhile?’ with gentle hugs, a tear or two-‘Now don’t be a stranger’ or ‘Please don’t go we’ll miss you so!’ We’ll watch until you’re out of sight-from the Front Porches in Alabama.
‘Friends are like Front Porch Pillars, Sometimes they hold you up, Sometimes they lean on you; Sometimes it’s just enough to know they’re standing by for you.’
Love y’all, Camellia
A Heartfelt Thanks to Jeremy Miniard for almost all of these wonderful ‘Front Porches of Alabama’ – what would we do without him?? We have some more of them in the vault waiting! They do belong to him, and cannot be reproduced without permission.
I’d like to claim it as my own, but the Front Porch Quote is Anonymous.
thank you!

I cannot take the credit- almost all of them were taken by a young man named Jeremy, who generously shares them with me! He also provided most of the photographs for ‘Doors of Alabama’ post…he’s amazing! He has also sent some black and white front porches that I hope to share as well! thank you! I will pass it along to him!

Jeremy…great job and the porch is so focal in the deep south. Enjoy sharing a swing or sitting on the step…sipping a cool lemonade or that evening cocktail. Life is good.

Hello Neighbor! Thanks for stopping by the blog next door in Georgia. There’s nothing like a good Southern porch for a quiet visit with friends and neighbors. I’m looking forward to reading more of your posts.

Front porches! so beautiful. There’s two things I love about a house (and those two things are how I know I’m not in my “forever home”) lots of windows and a BIG front porch! ha

Thank you! yes, we must have our front porches! in fact we had a back deck removed and made into a back porch and screened porch combo! they are indispensable, even cozy…but sort of like southern people I know- a porch isn’t so we can hide from the world – they are so we can interact with folks and observe the world around us! thanks for stopping by!

yes! one of our favorite things to do in the summer time is sit on our rocking chairs on the front porch and neighbors will walk over or we will walk over to them and chat. it truly is wonderful!

oh thank you! may be losing my mind…yes, grits… an humble unappreciated food- I always use a 4 to 1 ratio of water (not milk) when I make them…try it!

Most of the photographs are from Jeremy Miniard’s fantastic collection. Springtime is a great time to think about curb appeal- these certainly have inspired me! Love y’all, Camellia
